Nigel makes some interesting comments on green manure, crop rotation and faming techniques (including low tillage techniques).
Peter Melchett, Policy Director at the Soil Association appeared just before Nigel during the same show.
GoTo minute : - 9.56 --- "We need 3 planets for people to eat more meat"
Peter went on to make some comments on the huge advantages of grass reared British beef and sheep (they are good for the climate & healthy meat), that they make very good use of UK land where farmers cannot grow other sorts of food and this land will be sequestering carbon. He says we should be putting more emphasis on British beef and lamb reared on this land. Peter also stated chickens are good converters, however the grain and proton used to feed them are causing climate change impacts.

Ramsay Comments Summary: He has a personal crusade to stop growing food out of season. He does not want to see asparagus in middle of Dec, strawberries from Kenya in July. Chiefs are lazy and should change the menu. Should be fined for cooking out of season food.
