Nigel's response to the isssue of grass reared animals

Nigel has responded to the issue of grass reared animals (raised in my previous comment above) in quotes:

"A vegan diet requires a third of the land of a meat-eater (based on typical European diets) and so even with a growing population we would not need to use every bit of farmland.

Hill farms can be turned into forests for timber and biomass for fuel. Some marginal land can be used to grow nuts and fruit, particularly berries.

We can also let some land turn into wilderness areas or be used for recreation.

So to say some land can only be used for grazing animals is just not true.

We also have to remember that the grazing animals, cattle and sheep, produce methane.

What we need is for all farmland to be mapped out to show what all its potential uses are."
